How To: Run Objection Practice With AI Before You Knock

how-toAugust 5, 2026 · Nick Lavelle · CODE99

I went through a rep's call recordings one week and found the same objection 35 times. Thirty five. Same words, same spot in the conversation, same result. And the rep was answering it a little differently every time, which means the rep was practicing on paying customers.

Quick note before we go further. Our reps call on recorded business lines and everyone knows it. If you record your own calls, consent laws vary by state, so check yours before you hit the red button.

Here is the thing about that rep. The problem was not effort. The problem was that nobody in the trades gets real training. When I started in roofing they handed me a company pickup and a roofing manual and said go sell roofs. That was the whole program. Most of you got the same one.

The fix costs nothing

You have a sparring partner in your pocket that never gets tired and never gets offended. Before you knock, before you dial, make the AI play the customer and beat you up.

Copy this and paste it in:

You are a skeptical commercial property owner. I am a roofing rep who just called you out of the blue. Your objection is: I have had thirty five of you people call me and I do not have any damage. Hit me with that objection in a different way each round. After each answer I give, score it 1 to 10, tell me what a real owner would be thinking, and make me run it again. Ten rounds. Do not go easy on me and do not compliment a weak answer.

Swap in your trade and your objection. Too expensive. My cousin does that work. We already have a guy. Call me after the season. Whatever you heard three times last week, that is the one you drill.

How to run the drill

Treat what the AI tells you as a draft, not gospel. It does not know your market, your customers, or your prices. You verify everything against real doors and real calls. But as a tireless practice dummy that talks back, it is the best free coach a field rep has ever had.

Practice on the robot. Get paid at the door.
